French Classes in Sharjah, Live and One to One
For families planning a move, and children who need to keep up at school.
Live 1-on-1 French across Al Nahda, Al Majaz and Muweilah, online and scheduled around a Dubai working day. A1 to B2, from AED 640 a month.
In Sharjah, French is usually about somewhere else
Dubai learners mostly want French for work they already have. Sharjah enquiries are different: they are overwhelmingly about leaving, or about a child's schooling.
If Canada is the reason, read this first
French for a Canadian application is a different job from French for conversation. The level you need is set by the programme you are applying under, and it is tested by a specific exam, usually TEF or TCF rather than DELF.
- Find out which test your route accepts before you prepare. TEF, TCF and DELF are not interchangeable, and preparing for the wrong one is expensive.
- Find out the exact level required, per skill. As with IELTS, a good average rarely helps if one skill sits below the line.
- Then work backwards from the date. Going from nothing to a usable level is a year for most adults, not a term.
Requirements are set by the Canadian authorities and change. Confirm the current rule with them or with a licensed consultant. Nothing on this page is immigration advice.

| 2 months | AED 1,200 | Saves AED 80 against paying monthly |
| 3 months | AED 1,536 | Saves AED 384, and A1 usually takes about this long |

How the sessions work
One tutor, one learner, online, at a slot fixed with you. You speak in the first class, badly, and get corrected while you do it.
- Gender learned attached to the noun from day one, because retrofitting it later is slower
- Listening built early, since French runs words together and that is what defeats readers
- Exam format rehearsed only if you have a date, not by default
- Children taught on a separate track, with more listening and far less grammar
Start with the A1 practice quiz if you want a sense of the level before booking anything.
How long does it take to learn French?
The US Foreign Service Institute puts French in its easiest group for English speakers: roughly 600 to 750 class hours to professional working proficiency. It is the most reliable figure published anywhere, because the FSI has been timing exactly this for decades.
Which makes the question people actually ask easy to answer honestly.
Is three months enough to learn French?
Not to fluency. Anyone promising that is selling something.
Three months of steady one to one work takes most people through A1 and into A2: introducing yourself, ordering, asking directions, handling a short exchange at work, reading a simple email. A real result, and not the same thing as fluency. The difference is mostly hours.
| Time in | Where most learners are | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 month | Mid A1 | Greetings, introductions, numbers, present tense of the core verbs |
| 3 months | A1 done, into A2 | Order, ask directions, short work exchanges, simple emails |
| 6 to 9 months | Comfortable A2 | Hold an everyday conversation with a patient listener, past tense |
| About a year | B1 | Manage most situations that come up, explain and give reasons |
| 18 months plus | B2 | Argue a point, work in French. The level Canada and most employers want |
Typical ranges for two or three one to one sessions a week, not a guarantee. The FSI hour figure assumes intensive full time study, which almost nobody here is doing.
What is the 80/20 rule in French?
The idea that a small slice of the language does most of the work. The most frequent thousand or so French words cover the large majority of ordinary speech, so learning those properly beats learning five thousand badly.
A rule of thumb rather than a law. It is why early sessions drill a narrow set of verbs, etre, avoir, aller, faire, pouvoir, vouloir, until they are automatic.
The other 20 percent is where fluency actually lives. Nobody puts that on a poster.
What A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 mean in French
Six CEFR levels, published by the Council of Europe and used by every French exam board. DELF covers A1 to B2. DALF covers C1 and C2.
| Level | What you can actually do | Exam |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, follow slow speech about familiar things | DELF A1 |
| A2 | Handle routine exchanges, shopping, directions, describe your background and job in plain terms | DELF A2 |
| B1 | Deal with most situations while travelling, describe experiences, give reasons | DELF B1 |
| B2 | Follow a fast conversation, argue a point, work in French. The level most requirements name | DELF B2 |
| C1 | Use French flexibly at work and university, catch implied meaning and register | DALF C1 |
| C2 | Near native command, precise in complex situations. Rarely required by anyone | DALF C2 |
CEFR descriptors are published by the Council of Europe.
We teach A1 to B2, which is where essentially every practical requirement sits: work, DELF, school and immigration files. Past B2 the work is literary and idiomatic, better done by reading and living in the language than by taking classes.
The Canada mistake that costs the most
If French is for a Canadian application, DELF and DALF will not count. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepts only TEF Canada and TCF Canada.
People find this out after paying for the wrong exam, and it is the single most common way a French plan goes wrong from here.
Results are reported on the NCLC scale, the French counterpart of CLB. Most applicants are aiming at NCLC 7 in all four abilities, which sits at roughly CEFR B2.
| What you need | Detail |
|---|---|
| Accepted French tests | TEF Canada and TCF Canada only. Not DELF, not DALF |
| Scale used | NCLC, the French equivalent of CLB |
| Level usually needed | NCLC 7 in all four abilities, roughly CEFR B2 |
| Why people bother | French adds CRS points and opens French language category draws |
| Realistic preparation | A standing start to B2 is a year or more, not a few months |
Requirements and point totals are set by IRCC and they change. Confirm the current rule on the official IRCC pages before booking a test or building a timeline around it. We prepare you for the French, we do not give immigration advice.
Note the timeline in that last row against the deadline on your file. B2 from a standing start is the part people underestimate, and it is why we ask for the deadline in the first session.
Sitting the exam from Sharjah
We teach the French and we do not run the exam. DELF, DALF, TCF and TEF are run by accredited centres, booked directly with them, and the nearest ones to Sharjah are in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
So budget for the trip on exam day, and check the location when you register rather than on the morning.
- Confirm which exam your route actually requires before booking. For Canada it is TEF or TCF, not DELF
- Check the current calendar and fee with the centre directly, since both change
- Register early, because sessions fill ahead of immigration and university deadlines
- Bring the exam date to your first session so the preparation is built backwards from it
Where can you learn French in Sharjah?
Four realistic routes, suiting genuinely different people. We are one of them, not the answer to every case.
| Route | Format | Suits | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cultural institutes | Group terms in a centre, with culture and library access | People who want the community as much as the language | Fixed term dates, and the E11 at exactly the wrong time of day |
| Language schools | Group or private, in centre, term based | Learners who want a classroom and a set timetable | You speak for a fraction of a group hour |
| Apps | Self paced, gamified | Drilling vocabulary between real lessons | Nobody corrects your speaking, which is the part that matters |
| Online one to one | Live video, one tutor, your slot, AED 640 a month | Working people, parents, anyone whose week moves | No classroom, no cohort to socialise with |
Centre based providers price by term and change their rates, so check current fees with them directly. Our rate is published above and is identical in every emirate.
Be honest about your week before choosing. The usual failure is not the method. It is booking a term of evening classes and stopping in week three because the travel beat the intention.
French tutoring for school students in Sharjah
Most Sharjah enquiries about children are one of two problems: a child behind in a class of twenty five, or a child who joined a school where French started two years ago.
Both are fixable one to one, and neither is fixable in the same classroom that caused them.
Younger children sit on a separate track. See French classes for kids.
Is there a French class near me?
Honestly, no, and deliberately. There is no WizMantra classroom in Sharjah. Every session is live video with one tutor and one learner, so the nearest class is wherever you are sitting.
Which turns the usual disadvantage of living outside the centre into nothing at all.
Al Nahda, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Muweilah or University City: it makes no difference to us, and a great deal of difference to your week.
Same across the Emirates. Dubai and Abu Dhabi get the same tutors and the same published rate.

Frequently asked questions
Are the classes held in Sharjah?
No. Every session is live and online, one to one. That is deliberate rather than a compromise: most Sharjah learners either work in Dubai or are managing a school run, and neither survives a fixed classroom appointment across the emirate.
Which French exam does Canadian immigration accept?
Usually TEF or TCF rather than DELF, and the accepted list and minimum level are set by the Canadian authorities for your specific route. Confirm with them or a licensed consultant before you book any exam, because the tests are not interchangeable.
How long to reach a level Canada would count?
For most adults starting from nothing, a year of consistent study rather than a term. Anyone promising a usable level in eight weeks is selling you something. The demo gives you an honest timeline against your target date.
My child does French at school. Can you follow their syllabus?
Yes, and it is usually the most useful thing we do, because a class of twenty five moves at one pace and your child is either ahead of it or behind it. Bring the syllabus or a recent assessment to the demo.
What does it cost?
AED 640 for one month, AED 1,200 for two, AED 1,536 for three. The demo is AED 30 and includes a level check. Prices are the same across every emirate.
I have never studied French. Is that a problem?
No, most people start at A1. What matters more is how often you can speak between sessions. Two shorter sessions a week beats one long one, for the same reason a language dies if you touch it once a fortnight.
Is three months enough to learn French?
Not to fluency. Three months of steady one to one work usually takes you through A1 and into A2, so you can introduce yourself, order, ask directions and handle a short exchange at work. The Foreign Service Institute puts full working proficiency at 600 to 750 class hours.
What is the 80/20 rule in French?
The idea that a small part of the language does most of the work: the most frequent thousand or so words cover the large majority of ordinary speech. It is a rule of thumb, and it is why early sessions drill a narrow set of core verbs until they are automatic.
Which French test does Canada accept?
Only TEF Canada and TCF Canada. DELF and DALF are not accepted for Express Entry, which catches people out after they have already paid for the wrong exam. Results use the NCLC scale, and most applicants need NCLC 7 in all four abilities, roughly CEFR B2.
Where do I sit the French exam if I live in Sharjah?
At an accredited centre, and the nearest ones are in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so plan for the travel on exam day. Book directly with the centre, check the current calendar and fee with them, and register early because sessions fill before major deadlines.
How long before my Canada deadline should I start?
Longer than most people think. NCLC 7 is roughly CEFR B2, and a standing start to B2 is a year or more rather than a few months. Bring the deadline to the first session so the plan is built backwards from it instead of forwards from today.
Do you tutor French for IB or GCSE students?
Yes. IB French B at Standard and Higher Level and ab initio, plus Key Stage 3 through GCSE and A Level. Sessions target the oral assessment and written accuracy, which is where most marks go missing, rather than re-teaching the whole syllabus.
Is there a French class near me in Sharjah?
There is no WizMantra classroom in Sharjah, and that is deliberate. Sessions are live video, one tutor and one learner, so the class is wherever you are. Al Nahda, Al Majaz, Muweilah or Al Khan makes no difference to the slot you book.
I am an absolute beginner. Is that a problem?
No, and it is the most common starting point of all. You need no French whatsoever, and the AED 30 demo assesses you rather than asking you to choose a level. People who did some French at school usually place higher than they expect.
