If you’ve ever found yourself struggling with:
Verb tenses (I go vs. I went)
Sentence structure
Articles (a, an, the)

What Are English Grammar Classes at WizMantra UAE?
They're live one to one online classes that fix the grammar you get wrong when you speak and write, in the order that matters for you. Each class is 30 minutes, Monday to Friday, at a slot you keep in Gulf Standard Time. You start with an AED 30 demo, where the tutor finds your main error patterns and quotes the plan fee in AED.
Why learn grammar one to one?
Because your grammar problems are yours. A group course teaches tenses in chapter order. A one to one tutor listens to you for ten minutes and finds the three patterns causing most of your errors, then works on those until they're gone.
The research backs the format. The Education Endowment Foundation's review of one to one tuition puts the average gain at about five extra months of progress, and finds that short, regular sessions of around 30 minutes work best. Benjamin Bloom's 1984 study famously found tutored students far ahead of classroom peers. Later studies show smaller effects, so read it as a direction rather than a guarantee.
For grammar the reason is simple. Errors you don't notice can't be fixed by a worksheet. Someone has to hear them, stop you, and make you say the sentence again correctly.
Which grammar mistakes are most common in the UAE?
It depends on your first language, and that's useful, because it makes errors predictable.
| First language | Typical errors in English |
|---|---|
| Arabic | Dropping is and are ("he engineer"), extra pronouns ("the man who I met him"), mixing p and b |
| Hindi and Urdu | Present continuous for everything ("I am knowing"), missing articles, "since two years" |
| Malayalam and Tamil | Question word order ("what you want?"), tense agreement in long sentences |
| Tagalog | He and she mixed up, because Filipino uses one pronoun (siya) for both |
Look at the Arabic row. "The man who I met him" is perfectly logical in Arabic, which repeats the pronoun inside the clause. English drops it. Once you see that, the mistake stops feeling random, and it's much easier to catch yourself.
There's a free quiz on the errors Arabic speakers make in English if you want to test yourself first.
What does the grammar course cover?
The core of English grammar, weighted toward what adults in the UAE actually get wrong.
- Tenses: all twelve, but especially present perfect versus past simple, where most adults go wrong.
- Articles: a, an and the, which have no direct equivalent in many languages spoken here.
- Prepositions: in, on and at for time and place, and the fixed phrases (depend on, interested in).
- Conditionals and reported speech: the structures that make you sound precise at work.
- Writing: sentence structure and punctuation in your own emails.
You won't cover all of it at the same depth. If your articles are fine and your tenses aren't, the classes spend their time on tenses. That's the point of a one to one plan.
How does a grammar class actually run?
Pattern, then practice, then speech. Every class moves from noticing the rule to saying it without thinking.
Say your error is the present perfect. The tutor shows you three of your own sentences from the last class, the ones where you said "I have seen him yesterday". You work out the rule together. Then quick drills: short questions you answer out loud. Then a real exchange, like telling the tutor what you've done at work this week, where the tense has to come out right while you're thinking about something else.
That last step is the one most grammar courses skip. Knowing a rule on paper and using it in a meeting in Dubai Silicon Oasis are two different skills, and only practice joins them up.
- An error profile from the demo, updated as you improve.
- Exercises built from sentences you actually said or wrote.
- A recording and written notes after each class.
- A quick check at the start of each class on last time's point.
Which grammar point should an adult fix first?
The one that shows up most in your speech, which is usually a tense. For most adult learners in the UAE the short list looks like this: present perfect against past simple, articles, and the verb be in short sentences.
Fixing one high frequency error does more than polishing ten rare ones. If you say "I am working here since five years" ten times a day, that single change makes you sound noticeably more fluent to colleagues. Reported speech and mixed conditionals matter too, but they can wait until the everyday patterns are clean.
Is it too late to learn grammar as an adult?
No. Adults have one real advantage over children: they can follow an explanation and compare it with their own language. What's harder is breaking a habit that's been repeated for years. That's why classes keep coming back to the same point across several sessions, in different situations, until the new form comes out first.
Should you learn grammar or spoken English first?
If you can explain the rules but still make the mistakes when you talk, you need speaking practice with correction. More rules won't help. Basic, Intermediate and Advance English all fix grammar inside conversation. If you genuinely don't know the rules, start with grammar.
A quick way to tell: write five sentences about your weekend, then say them out loud without looking. If the written version is correct and the spoken one isn't, your problem is speed and habit. If both have the same errors, it's the rules.
Does grammar matter for IELTS, emails and work in the UAE?
Yes, in all three, and in slightly different ways. IELTS marks grammatical range and accuracy as one of the criteria in both Speaking and Writing, so errors cost you band score directly.
At work it's more about trust. A hospital in Abu Dhabi, a bank in DIFC or a logistics firm in Jebel Ali all run on written English: incident reports, client emails, handover notes. A missing article rarely causes confusion. It does make the writer look less careful, which matters when the reader is senior. For exam technique on top of grammar there's IELTS preparation, and for email and report writing the English writing classes go further.
How much do grammar classes cost in the UAE?
The demo is AED 30, and the plan fee is quoted in AED after it. Grammar plans vary more than the general English courses, because one learner needs a few weeks on tenses and another needs a full rebuild. For comparison, prices for the English level courses are on the AED fee page.
Ask for the quote in the demo itself. Ask which points need the most work, how long the tutor thinks that might take at five classes a week, and what the plan costs in AED. Then decide, with no need to sign up on the spot.
What can you practise between classes?
Five minutes a day on one point. Grammar sticks through repetition, and short bursts beat a long weekend session.
- Write three sentences a day using that week's point, then read them aloud.
- Reread one email before you send it, checking only for that point.
- Try a short quiz on the English practice tests page once a week.
For children there are separate grammar classes for kids, built around school English.
English Grammar Class Fees (AED)
Grammar plans are priced after the demo, because what you need decides how long it takes.
| Step | What happens | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Demo class | 30 minute live 1-on-1 session with a grammar and level check | AED 30 |
| Grammar plan | Live 1-on-1 classes, Monday to Friday, built on the errors found in your demo | Quoted in AED after your demo |
A one month plan runs for one calendar month from activation, and unused sessions lapse. Book the AED 30 demo to get your quote; prices for the English level courses are on the AED fee page.
