English Quizzes for UAE Learners

Five English quizzes written for learners in the UAE: a CEFR level test, reading and writing practice, a workplace English screening, and the errors Arabic speakers reliably make. Every question comes with an explanation, and nothing here asks for an email address.

These are skill quizzes. If you are preparing for a named exam, the exam guides sit one level up on the practice hub: IELTS speaking and writing, PTE, OET and the Duolingo English Test.

How to get value out of them

A quiz tells you what you got wrong. Reading the explanation tells you why, and that is the part that transfers to the next sentence you speak.

  • Take the level test first. Most people misplace themselves by a full CEFR level.
  • Read the explanations, not just the score. Three wrong articles is one mistake, not three.
  • Retake after a week. An immediate retake measures memory. A week later measures learning.

These five are general skills. The exam sets sit one level up on the practice hub: IELTS writing and speaking, PTE, Duolingo, OET for healthcare licensing, and a UAE interview set that is not an exam at all. And if articles are the thing you keep getting wrong, there is a whole page on why they are so hard from Arabic, because it is a pattern, not carelessness.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay or sign up for these quizzes?

No. Every quiz here is open to anyone, with no sign up and no email address. You get a score, the correct answer and an explanation for each question.

Which quiz should I start with?

The English Level Test. It places you on the CEFR scale in about ten minutes, which tells you whether the rest of your practice should target basics, exam technique, or precision and register.

How are these different from a grammar drill?

They are written for UAE learners. The examples use UAE workplaces, the levels are the ones employers here specify, and one quiz is built entirely around the errors Arabic speakers carry into English.

Will quizzes alone improve my speaking?

No. Quizzes measure recognition. Speaking is production, and it only improves when you talk and someone corrects you in the moment. That is the gap a class fills.

Know your level, then fix it

The quizzes stay open to everyone. When you want a teacher to tell you why the same mistake keeps coming back, that starts with the AED 30 demo and a level assessment.
