Spoken English Classes in Sharjah
One teacher, one student, and no drive to Al Majaz after work.
WizMantra teaches live online English classes to adults across Sharjah, from Al Majaz and Al Nahda to Muwaileh and University City. Every session is one teacher and one student, so the hour is yours rather than split between a batch of twelve.
Classes start at AED 430 a month. The first session is a paid demo at AED 30 and includes a level assessment. Nothing is booked until you have met the teacher.
Spoken English classes in Sharjah: the short answer
Spoken English classes in Sharjah cost AED 430 to AED 783 a month at WizMantra, taught online as one to one sessions. A trial class is AED 30. Most learners take two or three sessions a week in the evening, and because the class comes to you there is no drive to Al Majaz or Muwaileh after work.
Sharjah has plenty of good training centres. What it does not have is a way to sit in one of them at 7pm without giving up the rest of your evening. That is the problem this page is actually about.
The Sharjah commute makes evening classes expensive
If you live in Sharjah and work in Dubai, an evening class in Sharjah is rarely a ninety minute commitment. Between the drive home on Al Ittihad Road, the drive to the centre and the drive back, a ninety minute lesson routinely costs three hours of your evening.
This is the single biggest reason people in Sharjah sign up for an English course in September and stop attending by November. It is almost never the lesson that defeats them. It is the fifth week of leaving the house again at 6:45pm after already spending an hour in traffic.
An online class removes the two drives and leaves the lesson. That sounds like a small thing until you count it across a three month course.
There is a real trade off, and it is worth saying plainly. You lose the classroom, the other learners, and the discipline of having somewhere to be. Some people need that. If you are one of them, a Sharjah centre is the better choice and you should take it.
What English classes cost in Sharjah
WizMantra charges AED 430 a month at beginner level, AED 613 at intermediate and AED 783 at advanced, for one to one online lessons. Sharjah institutes mostly do not publish prices, though a listing on myprivatetutor.ae advertises a Sharjah spoken English course at AED 749.
Comparing prices in this market is harder than it should be, because most centres treat the number as something you earn by filling in a form. When you do get quotes, check what you are actually buying: a group course at AED 749 and a one to one course at AED 613 are not the same product, and the difference is how many minutes of the hour you spend speaking.
| What you are comparing | Group course | One to one online |
|---|---|---|
| Your speaking time in a 60 minute lesson | About 6 minutes | About 30 minutes |
| Travel per session | 60 to 90 minutes round trip | None |
| Pace | Set by the group | Yours |
| Price published upfront | Usually not | Yes, on this page |
Open options exist too. Several UAE centres run conversation sessions at no cost, and one of the Sharjah results ranking today leads with exactly that offer. They are worth using if you can already hold a conversation and simply need practice. They will not fix grammar, because nobody in the room is tracking yours.
Class timings that fit a Sharjah working day
Slots run 6am to 11pm Gulf Standard Time, seven days a week. For Sharjah residents commuting into Dubai, the two that work best are 6am to 7:30am before the drive, and 9pm to 11pm once you are home and fed.
| Slot | Time (GST) | Why it works in Sharjah |
|---|---|---|
| Before the commute | 6:00 to 7:30 | You are awake anyway. The lesson finishes before you leave for Dubai. |
| Midday | 11:00 to 15:00 | Homemakers, and anyone working inside Sharjah with a real lunch break. |
| Late evening | 21:00 to 23:00 | After the drive home and dinner. The slot a physical centre cannot offer. |
| Friday and Saturday | Most of the day | Keeps your weekday evenings clear entirely. |
Learners join from Al Majaz, Al Nahda, Al Qasimia, Muwaileh, Al Taawun, University City, Al Khan and Rolla. None of them is closer to the class than any other, which is the point.
Who learns English with us in Sharjah
Dubai commuters
You work in Dubai, live in Sharjah for the rent, and have no evening left. The class fits either side of the drive.
Families
Sharjah skews more family-heavy than Dubai. Parents often start a course, then add one for a child once they see how it runs.
University City students
Coursework in English, presentations in English, and a viva that assesses how clearly you can think out loud.
Arabic speakers
The recurring friction points are articles, the present perfect, and consonant clusters Arabic does not use. A teacher who expects those stops guessing.
Shop and showroom staff
Rolla and Al Qasimia retail work is conducted in English between people who share no first language. That is a specific skill.
Job seekers
Interviews across the northern emirates are in English, usually with a panel that is not made of native speakers either.
English classes for children in Sharjah
Children's classes run the same one to one format at AED 430 a month, with a teacher who works with the child rather than a group of eight. Sessions are shorter and built around speaking and reading aloud rather than worksheets.
Sharjah parents ask about this more than parents in any other emirate, and the question behind the question is usually the same: my child reads English well but will not speak it. That is a confidence problem, not a vocabulary one, and it does not improve in a room where a child can stay quiet for the full hour.
Full detail is on the English classes for kids page.
Your level, on the CEFR scale
CEFR is the A1 to C2 scale UAE employers and universities use. Basic covers A1 to A2, Intermediate covers B1 to B2, Advance covers B2 to C1. If a job advert in Sharjah asks for B2 English, that is what it means.
Most people place themselves wrong. The demo exists to settle it: a teacher talks with you for a session and tells you where you actually sit, which beats a self-assessment and beats an online quiz.
- A1 to A2, Basic. You understand more than you can produce. The sentence is built, translated, and by then the moment has passed.
- B1 to B2, Intermediate. Fluent until the pressure rises. This is where most working adults in Sharjah actually sit.
- B2 to C1, Advance. Your English works. You want precision, register, and to stop sounding translated.

Frequently asked questions
Which course is best to improve English speaking?
The one that gives you the most speaking time. A one to one class puts about thirty minutes of talking into an hour, against roughly six in a group of ten. Course names matter far less than that arithmetic when speaking is the thing you want to fix.
Can I speak English fluently in 30 days?
No, and anyone promising it is selling something. Thirty days of consistent practice will visibly improve your confidence and fix specific recurring errors. Moving a full CEFR level, for example B1 to B2, realistically takes about three months of two or three sessions a week.
How much do spoken English classes cost in Sharjah?
WizMantra charges AED 430 to AED 783 a month depending on level, with an AED 30 demo. Most Sharjah centres quote on enquiry rather than publishing, though one listing site advertises a Sharjah spoken English course at AED 749.
Where can I learn public speaking for children in Sharjah?
Children's speaking classes run online one to one at AED 430 a month, built around talking and reading aloud rather than worksheets. A shy child cannot hide in a one to one session, which is usually the whole problem in a group of eight.
Where can I practise spoken English in Sharjah at no cost?
Several UAE centres run conversation clubs at no cost and one Sharjah provider advertises an introductory session. They are genuinely useful if you can already hold a conversation. What they do not give you is correction, so they build confidence rather than accuracy.
Do I have to travel to a centre in Sharjah?
No. Classes are online, so learners join from Al Majaz, Muwaileh, Al Nahda, University City and everywhere else without a drive. For anyone commuting to Dubai this removes roughly 24 hours of travel across a three month course.
What are the class timings?
Slots run 6am to 11pm Gulf Standard Time, seven days a week, including Friday and Saturday. Sharjah commuters usually take the 6am to 7:30am slot before driving to Dubai, or 9pm to 11pm once they are home.
Start with the AED 30 demo
One live session with a teacher who assesses your level and shows you how a one to one class runs. If it is not for you, you have spent AED 30 finding out.
