English Classes in Dubai
One teacher, one student, the whole hour spent speaking.
WizMantra runs live online English classes for adults in Dubai, from complete beginner to advanced. You are not placed in a batch of twelve. Every session is you and one teacher, which is the only way most working adults actually get enough speaking time to improve.
Classes start at AED 430 a month. The first class is a paid demo at AED 30, so you can meet the teacher and get your level assessed before committing to anything.
English classes in Dubai: the short answer
English classes in Dubai cost roughly AED 430 to AED 783 a month at WizMantra, delivered online as one to one lessons rather than group batches. A trial class costs AED 30. Most learners meet their teacher twice or three times a week, in the evening or at the weekend, and start speaking in the first session rather than working through a textbook.
That is the whole offer in one paragraph. What follows is the detail: what the money buys, how the levels map to the CEFR scale your employer recognises, when the classes actually run in Gulf Standard Time, and the honest answer on KHDA licensing.
How much does it cost to learn English in Dubai?
At WizMantra a one month English course in Dubai costs AED 430 at beginner level, AED 613 at intermediate and AED 783 at advanced. The demo class is AED 30. It buys you a level assessment and a look at the teacher. It is not refunded or adjusted later, so treat it as the cost of finding out.
Pricing in this market is unusually opaque. Of the nine websites currently ranking on the first page of Google UAE for English courses in Dubai, only two publish a price at all. The rest ask you to fill in an enquiry form and wait for a callback. That is a deliberate choice on their part and it is worth knowing before you start comparing.
| Plan | 1 month | 2 months | 3 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic English Beginner, A1 to A2 | AED 430 | AED 861 | AED 1,291 |
| Intermediate English B1 to B2, the most common start | AED 613 | AED 1,225 | On request |
| Advance English B2 to C1, fluency and polish | AED 783 | AED 1,331 | On request |
| Demo class | AED 30, one session, includes a level assessment | ||
Prices are per learner for one to one online classes, and are set per level rather than flat. Note that the Basic two and three month plans are the monthly rate multiplied out rather than a discount, so pick the length that fits you.
What that works out to per hour
Take the intermediate plan at AED 613 a month with three sessions a week. That is roughly twelve hours of teaching, so about AED 51 an hour with a teacher who is working only with you. Compare that against a group course where the same hour is shared between eight or ten people, and the arithmetic on speaking time is not close.
Are there English classes in Dubai at no cost?
Yes, and they are worth knowing about. Several Dubai institutes run conversation clubs and weekly meetups at no cost, and a couple of them rank on the first page for exactly this reason. They are genuinely useful for practice if you already have a working level of English and just need people to talk to.
What they do not give you is correction. Nobody in an open conversation circle is tracking your grammar, telling you that your past tense collapses under pressure, or building the next session around the mistakes you made in the last one. If you can already hold a conversation and want reps, use those clubs. If you cannot yet, they will not move you.
Which English level are you? The CEFR ladder
CEFR is the six point scale (A1 to C2) that UAE employers, universities and visa processes use to describe English ability. WizMantra's three courses map onto it directly: Basic covers A1 to A2, Intermediate covers B1 to B2, Advance covers B2 to C1. If a job advert asks for "B2 English", that is the level it means.
Most people guess their own level wrong in both directions. Read the three descriptions below and find the one where the "you are here if" line makes you wince slightly. That is usually the right one.
You understand more than you can say
You can follow simple instructions, read signs and menus, and manage a short exchange at a counter. Speaking is the bottleneck. You build the sentence in your head, translate it, and by the time it is ready the conversation has moved on.
You are here if: a colleague asks you an unexpected question in a meeting and you go quiet, even though you understood the question perfectly.
You are fluent until the pressure goes up
You hold conversations, handle your job in English, and rarely get stuck. Then you have to disagree with a manager, explain something technical, or present to a room, and the grammar starts sliding. Tenses drift. You reach for a word and land on an approximation.
You are here if: you are comfortable one to one but avoid speaking in group meetings. This is where most working professionals in Dubai actually sit, and it is the most common place people start with us.
Fluent, and now the accent and precision matter
Your English works. What you want now is polish: sounding natural rather than correct, arguing a position, writing something persuasive, losing the small tells that mark you as a second language speaker in a senior room.
You are here if: nobody would call your English weak, but you can hear the gap between how you sound in English and how you sound in your first language.
The AED 30 demo exists mostly to settle this question. A teacher talks with you for a session and tells you where you actually sit, which is more reliable than any online quiz and considerably more reliable than your own estimate.
Class timings for a Dubai working week
Classes run in Gulf Standard Time (GST, UTC+4), the clock on your phone in Dubai. Slots run from 6am through to 11pm GST seven days a week, and the two most requested windows are before work (6am to 8am) and after work (7pm to 10pm). Friday and Saturday sessions are available for people who would rather not add anything to a weekday.
This is the question that decides whether an online class is realistic for you, so it deserves a direct answer rather than a vague promise of flexibility.
| Slot | Time (GST) | Who this suits |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning | 6:00 to 8:00 | Before the commute. Popular with people in Marina and JLT who lose an hour to traffic either side of the day. |
| Midday | 11:00 to 15:00 | Homemakers, shift workers, and anyone whose lunch break is genuinely an hour. |
| Evening | 19:00 to 22:00 | The most requested window by a wide margin. Book early, these fill first. |
| Late evening | 22:00 to 23:00 | Retail and hospitality staff finishing a late shift. |
| Friday & Saturday | Most of the day | Anyone who wants their weekday evenings back. |
Because the classes are online there is no travel either side. That is worth more in Dubai than in most cities. A group course in Bur Dubai that runs for ninety minutes can easily cost you three hours door to door in evening traffic, and it is usually the commute rather than the lesson that makes people quit in week five.
Searching for English classes near me in Dubai?
If you have been searching for English classes near me, you are probably weighing up which neighbourhood you can realistically get to after work. Online removes that question. Learners join from Deira, Bur Dubai, Marina, JLT, Business Bay, Al Barsha, International City, Silicon Oasis and Jumeirah without any of them being nearer or further from the class.
Who these English classes are for
Most people who come to us in Dubai are working adults who already live and work in English and hesitate the moment the stakes rise. Not beginners in the classroom sense. Professionals whose English is holding them back one level below where their skills would otherwise put them.
Working professionals
You run your job in English but avoid the meeting where you have to argue a point. The vocabulary is there, the confidence under pressure is not.
Job seekers
Dubai interviews are conducted in English and often by someone who is not a native speaker either. What is being assessed is whether you can think out loud clearly.
Business owners
You negotiate, pitch and write proposals. Small grammar slips in a written proposal cost more credibility than they should.
Homemakers
You want to handle schools, clinics, banks and neighbours without needing someone to translate for you.
Arabic speakers
Coming from Arabic, the usual friction points are articles, the present perfect, and consonant clusters that Arabic does not use. A teacher who knows this stops guessing and targets it.
South Asian and Filipino residents
Often already fluent, wanting to sound less like a textbook and more like the room. Different problem, different lessons.
The large majority of Dubai residents are expatriates, on most published counts somewhere around nine in ten, which means English is the working language between people who mostly do not share a first language. That is a specific skill. It is not the English of a British classroom and it is not tested by a grammar exercise.
How the online one to one classes work
You book the AED 30 demo, meet a teacher, and get told your level. If you continue, you pick a plan and a fixed weekly slot, and the same teacher takes every session so nobody restarts the relationship each week.
- Book the demo. One session, AED 30, a real teacher rather than a salesperson. You will be asked to talk, which is the point.
- Get your level. The teacher places you on the CEFR ladder and tells you what specifically is holding you back. Usually it is two or three concrete things, not "your English is weak".
- Pick your slot. Same time each week in GST, with the same teacher.
- Speak from lesson one. No textbook chapter one. You talk, you get corrected in the moment, and the correction is the lesson.
- Track it. Recordings and notes after each session so you can hear the difference across a month rather than trusting your own impression.
Do I need a laptop?
A phone is fine. Most learners join from a phone with earphones. You need a stable connection and somewhere you are willing to talk out loud, which in a shared apartment is the harder of the two requirements.
Online classes or a Dubai classroom: which is better?
A physical institute is better if you want a KHDA attested certificate, a fixed cohort, or a reason to leave the house. Online one to one is better if your constraint is time, traffic or speaking practice. For most working adults in Dubai the constraint is time, which is why online has taken the larger share of this market.
| WizMantra online, one to one | Typical Dubai institute | |
|---|---|---|
| Speaking time per hour | About 30 minutes | About 6 minutes in a group of ten |
| Travel | None | Often 60 to 90 minutes round trip in evening traffic |
| Published price | AED 430 to 783 a month | Usually enquiry only |
| Schedule | You pick the slot, 6am to 11pm GST | Fixed batch timings |
| Pace | Yours | The group's |
| KHDA attested certificate | No | Yes, if the centre is licensed |
| Classmates to practise with | No | Yes, a real benefit for some people |
That last row is not a throwaway. Some people learn better with other learners around them, and if that is you, a classroom is the right answer and we would rather you knew it before paying.
Is WizMantra KHDA approved?
No, and it is worth explaining what that does and does not mean. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority licenses training institutes based in Dubai and attests the certificates they issue, currently for a fee of AED 70 per certificate. WizMantra teaches online from outside the UAE and is not a licensed Dubai training institute, so we cannot issue a KHDA attested certificate.
If you need attestation, because an employer, a university or a visa file has asked for it by name, you need a KHDA licensed centre in Dubai and you should not use us. If what you want is to speak better English, attestation is not part of that and nobody will ask you for it.

Who teaches the class
Classes are taught by trained English teachers who work with Gulf based learners daily and who are assigned to you for the whole course rather than rotated. You keep the same teacher, which matters more than most people expect.
The teacher builds each session on what you got wrong in the last one. That only works if it is the same person, holding the same mental model of your English. A rotating pool of tutors resets that every week and you end up repeating your first lesson indefinitely.
If the teacher is not a fit, you say so and you are moved. That is a normal request and not a complaint, and it is far better handled in week one than in month three.
Native or non native teachers?
Both, and the honest answer is that it matters less than the industry implies. What predicts progress is whether the teacher can hear your specific errors and has a plan for them. A teacher who knows exactly which sounds Arabic speakers or Malayalam speakers struggle with will move you faster than a native speaker who has never had to think about it.
English course fees in Dubai
Fees are per level, not flat, because an advanced learner needs a different teacher and a different lesson design than a beginner. All prices are in AED for one to one online classes.
| Course | 1 month | 2 months | 3 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic English (A1 to A2) | AED 430 | AED 861 | AED 1,291 |
| Intermediate English (B1 to B2) | AED 613 | AED 1,225 | On request |
| Advance English (B2 to C1) | AED 783 | AED 1,331 | On request |
| Personality Development | AED 613 | AED 1,225 | On request |
| IELTS preparation | AED 1,038 | General Adhoc from AED 862 | |
| Demo class | AED 30 | ||
Advance is the one English plan that is genuinely cheaper taken as a block, saving AED 235 over two months. Nothing on this page is without charge, including the demo.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to learn English in Dubai?
At WizMantra, between AED 430 and AED 783 a month depending on your level, for one to one online classes. A demo class is AED 30. Most Dubai institutes do not publish prices, so comparing means requesting quotes from each one individually.
What is the best English school in Dubai?
It depends on what constrains you. If you want a classroom, a cohort and a KHDA attested certificate, choose a licensed Dubai institute. If your constraint is time, traffic or speaking practice, one to one online will move you faster for less money.
Can I learn English in 3 months?
You can move one CEFR level in about three months with two or three sessions a week and practice between them. Going from A2 to B2 in three months is not realistic. Most people overestimate the speed and underestimate how much speaking time it takes.
Are these one to one classes or group classes?
Always one to one. One teacher, one student, for the whole session. This is the core of what we sell, because speaking time is the thing that actually moves your English and a group divides it between everyone in the room.
Is WizMantra KHDA approved?
No. KHDA licenses training institutes based in Dubai and attests their certificates. We teach online from outside the UAE, so we cannot issue a KHDA attested certificate. If an employer or visa file has asked for attestation by name, you need a licensed Dubai centre instead.
Can I get an English tutor in Dubai online?
Yes. Every WizMantra class is effectively a private English tutor, assigned to you for the full course rather than rotated week to week. You keep the same teacher, who builds each session around the mistakes from your previous one.
How can I practise spoken English in Dubai at no cost?
Several Dubai institutes run weekly conversation clubs and meetups at no cost, which are genuinely useful if you can already hold a conversation. What they do not provide is correction, so they build confidence rather than accuracy. They work best alongside structured lessons, not instead of them.
What are the class timings in Dubai?
Slots run from 6am to 11pm Gulf Standard Time, seven days a week, including Friday and Saturday. Evening slots between 7pm and 10pm are the most requested and fill first. You keep the same weekly slot for the length of your course.
Start with the AED 30 demo
One session with a real teacher. You will be asked to speak, you will get told your actual CEFR level, and you will see how a one to one class runs before spending anything more. If it is not for you, you have spent AED 30 finding out.
