What each level means, and which course matches yours
The CEFR scale in plain terms, with an honest description of what you can actually do at each level, how the levels line up with IELTS bands, and which WizMantra UAE course fits where you are now. Assessed properly in an AED 30 demo rather than guessed.
What the CEFR levels actually mean
CEFR is a six level scale used across Europe and most of the world to describe how well someone uses a language: A1 and A2 are basic, B1 and B2 are independent, C1 and C2 are proficient. It describes what you can do, not how many words you know.
That distinction matters more than it sounds.
Most people in the Emirates guess their own level and guess it wrong in both directions. Someone who has worked in English for a decade assumes they are C1 and turns out to be a fluent B1 with a large vocabulary and shaky structure. Someone who is embarrassed about their accent assumes they are a beginner and is comfortably B2.
The six levels, and the course that matches each
Find the description that sounds most like you on a bad day rather than a good one. That is usually your real level.
A1: you know words, not yet sentences
You can introduce yourself, say where you are from, and understand very slow speech about familiar things. Conversation stalls quickly. Reading a menu is fine, reading a tenancy contract is not.
Most people at A1 have studied some English at school and never used it.

A2: you can handle routine situations
Shopping, directions, describing your family and your job, simple past tense. You manage the transaction but not the conversation around it.
At work you understand instructions and struggle when someone changes the subject.

B1: independent, but hesitant
This is where most working adults in the UAE actually sit. You can deal with most situations that come up, describe experiences, give short reasons and explanations, and hold a conversation with a patient listener.
What gives you away is repair. When you lose the thread you restart the sentence instead of rescuing it, and you fall back on the same fifty phrases.
Your course: Intermediate English Classes, AED 613 a month
B2: you can argue a point
You follow a fast conversation between two native speakers, take part in a meeting without preparing first, and write a clear email about a problem. Technical discussion in your own field is comfortable.
B2 is the level most employers actually mean when a job advert says fluent English.
Your course: Advance English Classes, AED 783 a month
C1: fluent, and it sounds effortless
You use English flexibly for social, academic and professional purposes, catch implied meaning and humour, and structure a long argument without visible effort. Mistakes still happen and they no longer get in the way.
C1 is the level that gets people promoted into client facing and leadership roles.
Your course: Advance English or Business English
C2: near native command
You understand virtually everything you hear or read, summarise from several sources, and express yourself precisely even in complex situations. Very few second language speakers reach this and very few jobs require it.
If you are aiming here, the work is register and nuance rather than grammar.

How CEFR levels compare with IELTS bands
IELTS publishes an approximate alignment to CEFR. It is a guide, not a conversion, because IELTS tests four skills separately and CEFR describes overall ability.

Alignment as published by IELTS. Always check the exact band your university, employer or immigration authority requires, because requirements are set per skill and differ by institution. Our IELTS preparation pages carry the current UAE test fees.
Note the trap in that table. A B2 speaker with weak writing can sit the test and get 6.5 overall while scoring 5.5 in writing, and a visa file that requires 6.0 in every band will still be refused.
Overall band is not the same as minimum band.
How to find your actual level
Two ways, and they answer different questions.
Do the written test first if you would rather arrive with a number in your head. Plenty of people do, and the two rarely disagree by more than half a level.
Choosing by goal instead of by level
Level tells you where to start. Your goal decides which of the specialist courses sits on top of it.

Roughly B2, using the approximate alignment IELTS publishes. Check the exact requirement with your university, employer or immigration authority though, because most set a minimum in every skill as well as an overall band, and the per skill minimum is what usually fails a file.
How do I find out my English level?
Take the online level test for a rough placement, then book the AED 30 demo so a trainer can assess your speaking, which no written test measures. The two rarely disagree by more than half a level, and the demo settles it properly.
How long does it take to move up one level?
About a month of daily one to one classes for most learners who start in the right place. Starting in the wrong place is the usual reason it takes longer, which is the whole argument for being assessed before you book rather than after.
Which English course should I take in the UAE?
Start from your level, then add your goal. Basic, Intermediate or Advance sets the foundation, then Business English, Interview Preparation, IELTS, writing or public speaking sits on top. The table above maps each goal to a course and its monthly fee.
Do you give a certificate of English proficiency?
No. We teach, we do not examine. The recognised proof is an exam result such as IELTS, PTE or TOEFL, and we prepare you for those. We will also tell you honestly when you are not ready to book the test yet, rather than encouraging an early attempt that costs you the fee twice.
