The Heritage Gap: Speaks Hindi, Cannot Read It
It is one of the most common things we hear from Indian families in the UAE: the child chatters away in Hindi at home but cannot read a single line of Devanagari, and the parent who reads fine never learned to write it neatly. This course closes that gap. We build the script from the very first letter, so reading and writing catch up with the speaking that is already there.
What You Will Learn
Reading & Writing Modules
Want speaking first, script later? Start with our spoken Hindi classes.
For Kids and Adults
Heritage children who speak Hindi at home but need to read and write for school or to read on their own. Adults who speak comfortably but never learned the script, or who want to write it neatly again. We meet you exactly where you are, whether that is the first letter or halfway there.
How Your Classes Work
Every class is live and one-to-one over video, so the pace matches the learner, not a group. You practise reading aloud and writing in every session, with gentle correction and short tasks between classes. Start with a demo class for just 30 AED, then choose a one, two or three month plan.
The Devanagari Learning Path
We follow a clear, step-by-step path so the script never feels overwhelming.
1. Swar and vyanjan: the vowels and consonants, sound by sound.
2. Matras: the vowel signs that change how every consonant is read.
3. Barakhadi: combining consonants with each matra until it is automatic.
4. Words: reading and writing simple, familiar words.
5. Sentences: joining words with correct spacing and spelling.
6. Paragraphs: smooth reading and neat writing of longer text.
Every learner starts exactly where they are on this path.
Read Only, or Read and Write?
Not everyone needs both. Some learners only want to read, to follow signs, menus, messages or religious texts, and we focus purely on reading fluency. Others need to write neatly for school, work or exams, so we add handwriting, spelling and matra accuracy. Tell us your goal and we shape the plan around it.
Who Learns With Us
Heritage children who speak Hindi at home but need to read and write for school or on their own. Adult beginners who never learned the script and want to start from the first letter. Readers of religious and cultural texts who want to read the Ramayan, Gita or bhajans in the original Devanagari. Each gets a plan built around what they want to read and write.
How Long Does It Take to Read Hindi?
Most learners read simple words within the first two to three weeks and move to sentences within a couple of months. Writing neatly and spelling correctly takes a little longer and comes with practice. Because it is one-to-one, the pace matches the learner, whether that is a quick young reader or a careful adult starting fresh.
